This is the best of all plausible worlds Think long and hard about what that means We know compassion is instrumental In a system where it's either him or me We know it's a never ending game By the lights of the self-made man He's striving -conniving- to prove his worth In a freedom fight along property lines for all time A freedom fight along property lines: The gleam in the enlightened philosophers' eyes The more we ask for, the more we yearn And we will get what we deserve As it was written, so it would seem Power over other is power indeed And on deaf ears the cries for justice fall When it's all against all In the state of nature or by the law of the land Freedom for the wolves means death for the lambs There are no folded flags, no names on granite walls For the casualties on the war of all against all

False Spring 02:29
When they boarded the private plane When the boys in Houston said "All systems are go" They set themselves against the moon Knowing full well what it might do There was an icy glare Till rocket fuel inflamed the air Florida's change of season is the beholder's eye And Florida had it's reasons for setting our hopes sky high Panhandle warming, another January morning The shuttle reincarnate is a road Now westward the barefoot artist makes his way Each thing he sees he calls by its name A screaming comes across the sky Mistook the climate for the weather's turns Another case of the dreamer's disease Should a fine day break on God's green earth Who else but dreamers will believe? In the headlights' glare One last gulp sacred air In Florida, winters seem to wear spring's disguise And Florida is the reason that the best of us have died

I look at the past, it's like a foreign land I hear a language I can't understand I'm a stranger On a memory screen, two figures embrace They're so naive, but I can't look away It keeps drawing me back Those moments were bigger than me, bigger than you I'm wise and sensitive enough to know it's true If you could be here to hear me now, you'd see If you could somehow read my mind, you'd agree I look at the past, it's something like a dream I face who I was and who we used to be Please try to understand Please see me as I am

In The Loop 02:30
Nothing goes unsignified When the psyche has been securitized Self-surveillance marks the age Of collapsing expectations Ask yourself How do you feel? Ask yourself For all to hear The choice is yours You can go your own way You can call it another lonely day Everyone you've ever loved is here In the hall of mirrors Ask yourself How do you feel? Ask yourself For all to hear Listen to yourself, don't conceal Nowhere else are you more needed than right here So don't turn away A shared desire for a private sphere Is the tie that binds each peer to peer No one can blame us For merely being What we fear Or for wanting To disappear We're all looking for something We are what we fear Then we disappear
