1.
It’s a place from my dreams I’ve been here before What is left? Images we paint and sketch The most beautiful of the chosen few We held each other the whole night through We beamed with pride as our garden grew But when the fever broke, I knew Unobstructed vision A sense of place of time For such a small price, We bought ourselves peace of mind [epictetus] Love to be sure is nothing much to lose But the young swear it is And it’s their life to choose God knows we were young But these things change I tried to join the dance But you walked away
2.
All I ever really wanted Was a perfect place to hide An analogous existence Unseen by the camera’s eye No confrontation, no contamination, No admittance without invite: An android’s dream of self-defence Made organic through artificial intelligence Now every single second, I do a thousand things The accumulation of encrypted signals augments my reality The future may be overcrowded But I’m counting down the days I’ve got wisdom beyond my years And the esteem of my peers And I’ve got the stats to prove it There’s safety in numbers, the future’s in crowds Is there a better way, don’t we know by now? All I ever wanted was to know what counts And look what we’ve found
